Job Description:

TASKS
• Develop technical architectures, frameworks and strategies, for significant solutions, to meet business and application requirements;
• Identify the policies and requirements that drive out a particular solution;
• Analyze and evaluate alternative technology solutions to meet business problems;
• Ensures the integration of all aspects of technology solutions;
• Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with government and industry directions for technology;
• Evaluate existing procedures and methods, identify and document database content, structure, and application sub-systems, and develop data models;
• Define and document interfaces of manual to automated operations within application sub-systems, to external systems and between new and existing systems;
• Define input/output sources, including detailed plan for technical design phase, and obtain approval of the system propoSOl;
• Identify and document system specific standards relating to programming, documentation and testing, covering program libraries, data dictionaries, naming conventions, etc.;
• Support and use the various HoC methodologies such as the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC);
• Support and use of the HoC’s Enterprise Architecture Quality Assurance Framework.

The ideal candidate will have::
  • a college diploma or university degree in an IT discipline
  • a minimum 10 years experience within the last 12 years in application architecture
  • in-depth knowledge of Application Architecture practices
  • knowledge of enterprise architecture development
  • in-depth knowledge of application development methodologies and practices such as UML and RUP
  • knowledge of object oriented design and programming, Visual Basic, VB.NET and related technologies.
  • capability of communicating verbally and in writing in both official languages
  • a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or formal training in Project Management from a recognized institution, at the discretion of the House of Commons.
